- After dark, the bridges light up and the water glows—it’s pure magic.
- Most cruises are around €20–€25, and some include snacks, wine, or even pizza.
- Pro tip: Book a smaller boat for a more intimate vibe. Total main character moment.
🍺 Have a Heineken—Trust Me
- It’s brewed right here, and you won’t get it fresher (or cheaper) anywhere else in the world.
- A draught at a local café? Around €3 to €4. You can also visit the Heineken Experience museum for the full foamy backstory—cheers to that.

- Even if you’re not staying overnight, pop into The Amstel Hotel (see my previous post!). It’s like time-traveling in heels—glamorous, gilded, and gloriously old-school.

🍺 Have a beer at Café Kalkhoven: A Dutch Gem That Time Forgot
- A perfect stop after a canal stroll, museum visit, or just when you need to sip something cold and feel like a local.
- One of the oldest cafés in Amsterdam, pouring pints since 1670—yep, it’s older than most countries.
- Tucked along the Prinsengracht canal, with dreamy views and the perfect golden hour light.
- Think wooden benches, stained glass windows, vintage beer signs, and zero fuss—just proper Amsterdam charm.
- Locals love it for its laid-back vibe, affordable drinks, and classic Dutch snacks (hello, bitterballen).
🕯️ Visit Anne Frank’s House
- Located on the Prinsengracht canal, this is the actual building where Anne Frank and her family hid from the Nazis during World War II.
- Anne lived in the secret annex from July 1942 to August 1944, before the family was discovered and arrested.
- The museum preserves the hidden rooms, including Anne’s bedroom, where she wrote her famous diary.
- You’ll see original artifacts, diary pages, and personal photos that make her story heartbreakingly real.
- Walking through the annex is like stepping into history — it’s quiet, powerful, and deeply moving.
- One of the most visited museums in Amsterdam, it offers audio guides and timed entry (book ahead!).

⭐ Visit Soho House Amsterdam
- Housed in the former Bungehuis, a 1930s university building with art deco bones and rivers of style.
- Overlooks the Singel canal, right in the heart of Amsterdam’s UNESCO-listed canal belt.
- The building’s facade still whispers its academic past—once part of the University of Amsterdam, now filled with velvet sofas and rooftop DJs.
- Original architectural details—like brass accents, marble staircases, and terrazzo floors—have been gorgeously preserved.
- You’re soaking up history and sipping cocktails under the stars on the rooftop pool deck.
🧭 Bonus: Just Wander
- Get lost in The Jordaan, find a hidden garden, or stumble into a cheese shop that changes your life. Amsterdam rewards curiosity. Every corner hides a story—or a stroopwafel.
