Writing a book is hard—full stop. No matter the genre, no matter how long it’s been sitting in your heart, you never really know how it’ll be received. You hope. You dream. You rewrite a thousand times. And then… you wait.
When I published A Streak of Light, I had no idea if the industry would take it seriously. Would the professionals get it? Would they get the concept? So I sent it to some of the big editorial reviewers—Publisher’s Weekly, Indie Reader, The Children’s Book Review—and braced myself.
And then something incredible happened.
Not only did they read it and get it, but Readers’ Favorite awarded it a 5-star seal. The kind that comes with an actual silver sticker—yes, the kind you see on books in real bookstores and libraries. The kind I’ve quietly admired for years.
I always used to wonder what those stickers meant—what secret community an author had found, what hidden circle of readers or experts had decided, ‘Yes. This one deserves a shiny badge of honor.’ Now I know. And somehow, I’m part of it. It’s surreal and exciting and exactly the kind of spark I needed to keep going. Oh—and in even more surreal news: the audiobook version of A Streak of Light is now officially streaming on multiple platforms including Spotify, Walmart & NOOK!
Download it on KOBO (yep, that’s Walmart’s e-book platform) and NOOK via Barnes & Noble.
Thank you for reading, listening, supporting, sharing, or simply believing in the magic of stories.
This silver sticker means the world to me.
