MY REVIEW
I wasn’t expecting my read of Mimi & Ary by Rashad Mirzayev to go by so quickly—but it did. The book opens right in the heart of a jungle. Not just any jungle, but one brimming with magical creatures and surprises. Into this world tumbles Mimi, our curious heroine, who wakes to find herself lost and—lucky for her—rescued by Ary, a rare blue bird who carries the kind of wisdom only a lifetime in the wild can teach.
What follows is less a simple adventure and more a conversation-filled quest. Ary teaches Mimi the sort of lessons that sneak under your skin: that food can be fuel for strength, that fear isn’t the enemy but the doorway to bravery, that rules are often disguised as love, and that kindness always circles back when you least expect it. These lessons come wrapped in dialogue that feels real, with Mimi asking questions the way any child would, and Ary answering with patience and heart.
The writing is unusually profound, the art alive with color, and the mood deeply affecting. Scene after scene, lesson after lesson, visual after visual, the reader soon finds themselves not just in a jungle—but somewhere beyond it, as if stepping across a hidden bridge into a brighter world.
My favorite line? “Baby girl, fear is good. Fear is in all of us. We are all afraid of something, or the unknown.”
