MY REVIEW

A Day with the Dragons by Raven Howell, with illustrations by Alexander Santos, is a sweet story about two dragon brothers who couldn’t be more different. Blue loves the sea, while Green prefers dry land. Each brother tries to convince the other to try something new, but things don’t quite go as planned. Before long, there are waves, jellyfish, hiking boots, and a few funny surprises!

The colorful illustrations are full of expression and bring Blue and Green’s personalities to life on every page. In the end, Yellow helps his brothers find common ground, reminding them that sharing the day together is more important than getting their own way.

I found this to be a tender read with a gentle message about accepting differences, saying sorry when you’re wrong, and realizing that you don’t have to like the same things to have the best day together. Sometimes, the shortest path to a great adventure is simply meeting each other halfway.
