I received an awesome hamper from Cosmetix South Africa recently, with some delicious products to review from the Essence beauty range. I’ve always enjoyed this range because it’s light and lets the skin breathe. I find the price is affordable for the target market it’s trying to attract. When I was studying, a lot of my student friends would stock up on Essence products + run through them by the end of the week. It’s great for that busy lifestyle of going out constantly and wanting an affordable range of day-to-day make up that makes you look great quickly. I personally found the blush very appealing. This shade was particularly attractive – it’s light so it looks natural while still giving your skin a rosy-pink feel.
Skybok is filming yet another local designer, Steph Golden of “StephG Rock Couture” – well known for his signature caps, handmade + covered in bling! Just the way I like them! We’ll be shooting him this week – watch this space.
All the chocolates are meticulously made by hand, using only the finest, freshest and original ingredients – fresh farm cream, roasted nuts, exotic liqueurs, amongst others.
It’s not everyday a blogger has the pleasure of “reviewing” gourmet chocolate, but Richard Von Geusau of Von Geusau Chocolates in Greyton gave me that chance this week. We met at the gorgeous Melissa’s in Newlands where he delivered my package – me awaiting him in eager anticipation! Over cappuccinos, he watched me sample the first of 3 slabs he gave me. My reviews of each are below – please bear in mind I am no choccie expert, however I know a good Cape delight when I see one! But how can we truly find words to describe these bite-sized morsels of heaven? Here goes…
I’m a big fan of caps. Specifically, I’m a fan of the Fanatics MLB caps. I’ve had fun wearing NYC caps after my recent trip to New York + I was recently asked what outfit I would put together with one of the MLB’s famous baseball caps………. I chose this Texas Rangers hat, seeing as I’m obsessed with Texas + was just there!
Crave photography is Cape Town’s freshest solution to capturing moments you want to remember. I was blessed enough to be introduced to Chantelle while she was working at “Cafe Caprice” along the famous Camps Bay, Cape Town. A fiery entrepreneur, there’s a lot more to Chantelle than meets the eye (not only beauty but business savvy also!)
Following Mail & Guardian’s recent article “Ten Of The Biggest Voices on South Africa’s Social Media Scene“, I discovered a group of photographers who collectively call themselves “I See A Different You”. They are based in Soweto + photograph their world the way they see it. Soweto stands for “South Western Townships” + is located in Johannesburg, South Africa. I find these guys really inspiring. Follow them on Twitter, Facebook + Instagram. This week I definitely take my inspiration from this group of creative entrepreneurs who seem to be among the loudest shouting online – and have over 16,000 people who are listening.
For my readers who don’t know, Mi Casa is a South African band. They’re most well-known for their hit song “Jika”. They were recently down in Cape Town for a performance at the Cape Town Convention Centre. One of my business partners was managing them on the evening + he took me backstage to meet them, right before they performed for the president! Pretty cool, huh? It makes me proudly South African to see such brilliant talent + especially to see how they’re conquering the global music scene. Kinda like another South African duo – you may know them – Die Antwoord. See my photos with them here. Mi Casa is my “Inspired By” spotlight this month – see last month’s inspiration, Victor Matom.
