Flight Centre recently hosted some VIP guests at the Marly Hotel in Camps Bay, Cape Town, to promote the launch of their new Red Label Holidays. I was lucky to be included! I loved connecting with Erika from Die Burger, Bridget from Good Taste Magazine, Vicky from Opulent Living, Ilse from BizCommunity and, of course, the Flight Centre Brand Manager for the Western Cape Region, Reeva.

Recently, Tony award-winning South African actor, director and playwright John Kani spoke at Forum in Port Elizabeth. I was blown away with his passion, peace and positive attitude. You could hear a pin drop in the room while he spoke – addressing some of the city’s most successful businessmen. Here was his message:
+ We need to grasp the magnitude of what we achieved with ending Apartheid and avoiding a civil war in South Africa all those years ago
+ We need to recognize the power of Ubuntu – the African concept of community; “I am because you are”. This deals with the empowerment that comes with unity and working together
DAME Helen Mirren looked every inch the Hollywood star as she arrived at the airport in Cape Town to catch her flight home.
As she strolled through the terminal with her husband, Taylor Hackford, by her side, the 69-year-old looked cool, calm and collected in a pair of dark shades and matching attire.
The “RED 2” star, who has been in South Africa promoting her latest film “Eye In The Sky”, had certainly dressed comfortably for the flight but still managed to look good.
Grinning and waving at photographers, Dame Helen wore a pair of cropped black leggings with a matching cardigan and ballet pumps.
She carried a lilac coat and a pink scarf over her arm, as well as a tan coloured handbag as she made her way through security.
“No way does she look her age – she looks amazing. I want to look like that when I’m 69.”

With Autumn here (Spring in South Africa), my attention was drawn to the Fall 2014 Men’s Suit Collection at Bonobos – a Menswear Fashion Brand from the US. They describe themselves as offering both “well-crafted, great fitting men’s clothing and a top-notch shopping experience that’s simple and painless.” Their new collection of wool suits, tweed blazers and tuxedos seem to go hand-in-hand with the crisp Fall weather and Autumn leaves. Ladies, these would make a great gift for your boyfriend / hubby! Connect with Bonobos on their Facebook, their Blog and their Instagram.
Just over a week ago, the 12th of September marked 37 years since the chief creator of the Black Consciousness movement, Steve Biko, was killed in the custody of the apartheid police. Today his legacy lives on through a number of institutions in South Africa and abroad. The main organisation here in South Africa is the The Steve Biko Foundation. It’s hosting a number of events in the coming weeks in commemoration of 37 years since his death. These are:
