spotlight on new mexico

Taos Pueblo has been lived in for over 1,000 years

Today’s spotlight is on Taos, New Mexico, where the November harvest season unfolds in color, art, and ancient tradition. Framed by the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Taos becomes a gathering place for Native heritage events that honor the changing season and the earth’s abundance.

Each fall, the Taos Pueblo community celebrates with storytelling, music, and harvest markets that keep centuries-old traditions alive. The Adobe Art Markets overflow with pottery, textiles, and jewelry inspired by the rhythms of land and sky — a living reflection of gratitude and craft.

The town’s official events calendar lists “Yuletide in Taos” running from November 18 to December 31, featuring candle-lit farolitos in the adobe shops and homes.
