After work last night I went to check out Kenka, a Japanese bar in the heart of East Village New York. I fell in love with it! Quirky, colourful, addictive + bizarre (one of the items on the menu was a bull’s penis, another was fried frog). The food was out of this world + the atmosphere was communist Japan. My personal recommendation is tuna on the bone. This place is another world; an unforgettable evening in many ways! Go here if you’re exploring New York. *Plus you get cotton candy after your meal on the house! The address is: 25 St Marks Pl (Btwn 3rd Ave & Astor Pl)
GUESS is a brand that’s always inspired me. We did a bit of its style in a recent shoot in East Village New York with John Tona at http://www.johntona.com/
After studying in New York, I arrived home in South Africa inspired and changed. I love New York! Every single day felt like I was in a fairytale. The flight to New York from South Africa is 14 hours. I can honestly say I was welcomed into the city with open arms. I’d always imagined New York to be an intimidating place. I was thinking “Sex in the City” and famous stars like Beyonce and Jay Z walking the streets on the flight over. Not to mention that it’s the financial capital of the world – the Wall Street Stock Exchange sounds scary. But I was pleasantly surprised with how friendly the people were and how do-able the city was.
