I previously wrote about San Diego a bunch of times here. Being from Nelson Mandela Bay in South Africa (the east coast), I’m used to the beach. By the way, if you’re new to my blog, I write + take pictures of special moments along my travels. For more on African moments, I highly suggest: Chasing Elephants in Addo Elephant Park. (more…)
I was recently at an iconic exhibition held at The Texas Museum of Science & Technology... “Tutankhamun: Wonderful Things From The Pharoah’s Tomb”.
Skybok produced this 1-minute video profile of it! (see below)
I’ve always been fascinated with ancient Egypt. (There’s a great documentary on Netflix now, search for “Egypt” by BBC Films). Here are some more photos from the museum’s exhibition showcasing exact replicas of the artifacts discovered in his tomb. (A nice website on the exhibition with historical questions answered here). Also, check out 8 surprising facts about Tutankhamun.
I Recently enjoyed the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington!
Congrats to the co-champions on their fantastic win!
What an exciting event live! And to everyone watching on ESPN, I’m sure as nervous as I was watching the contestants spell their words!
More on the prizes here.
The winners will be very busy this coming week, with appearances on
‘Live with Kelly’ on ABC
Jimmy Kimmel Live
And Ringing the bell to the opening of the New York Stock Exchange!

I recently attended the Klein Constantia / Omega Pharma Quick-Step charity cocktail do in aid of Francois Pienaar’s MAD Charity (Make a Difference). Held at the gorgeous Klein Constantia wine farm, there was a fantastic turn-out despite the weather and everyone seemed ready to have a good time. There was an auction which saw some exciting items being swept up by enthusiastic bidders. From a 5 star break-away for two donated by the Royal Portfolio to a brand new top-of-the-range bike donated by Specialized Bikes, guests were keenly getting involved for a good cause. It also helped that pro-cycling legend Eddy Merckx was there!
This weekend I attended a fabulous fashion event in Brooklyn called Art Meets Fashion, which was an awesome evening held at Industry City, Sunset Park, Brooklyn. AMF is an International exhibit which includes fashion influenced artwork, sculpture and video installations created by 40+ artists from NYC, Brazil, Italy, Africa, Hong Kong and Spain.
