Ringing in the New Year

Our Danube cruise ended in Budapest, and we decided to cap off the trip with New Year’s Eve in Paris – you know, the city of lights! Turns out, Paris was the hottest spot to ring in the new year, with a whopping 1 million folks gathered along the Champs-Élysées for the first time ever!

Champs-Élysées

Here’s how I spent my time there, blazing a starlit trail:

  1. Toured Paris on a hop-on-hop-off bus, seeing all the main attractions.
  2. Stood in front of the Eiffel Tower and had a croque madame.
  3. Enjoyed a cappuccino at La Terrasse Restaurant and Café in the 7th arrondissement.
  4. Indulged in a famous banana Nutella crepe and coffee at Café Richard.
  5. Watched the Eiffel Tower glittering on the hour for a few minutes one night.
  6. Spent a day at The Palace of Versailles.
  7. Went to the Louvre.
  8. Spent New Year’s at the Ritz.
  9. Found a favorite new scent – a Roger and Gallet Rose perfume, very French!
  10. Sampled chocolate from the famous French chocolate house Maison du Chocolat on New Year’s Day.
