Majete Game Reserve + Lakoma Island

Kaya Mawa Resort on Lake Malawi

Here’s how I spent a week in Malawi, splitting my time between Majete Wildlife Reserve and Kaya Mawa Resort on Likoma Island, blazing a starlit trail:

  1. Enjoyed Game Drives across Majete reserve – where I stayed in Mkulumadzi Lodge.
  2. Flew on a private plane from Lilongwe to Likoma Island, feeling like a VIP.
  3. Enjoyed biltong and wine at sunsets, chilling by lamplight with killer views of Majete Game Reserve and Lake Malawi respectively.
  4. Got schooled in a traditional Malawian game called Bao.
  5. Hopped on a ferry into town and checked out Katundu – this cool workshop that raises money for anti-poaching efforts and provides employment to locals, as part of our Imbeko partnership program.
  6. Grooved to some traditional dancing on the beach, feeling the rhythm of Africa.
  7. Checked out the famous cathedral church of St. Peter on Likoma Island.
  8. Scoped out Nkhwazi School, researching its serious upgrade requirements through my non-profit, Imbeko, which I write more on over here.
