Chills and Charm: My Hauntingly Beautiful Trip to Victoria’s Black Swan Inn for the Psychic and Spirit Fest!

Tucked beneath the Spanish moss-draped oaks of Victoria, Texas, the historic Black Swan Inn is known for many things—its southern elegance, deeply rooted history, and… ghosts. But during the Psychic and Spirit Fest, hosted by the ever-enchanting “Curious Twins”, it transforms into something even more magnetic: a crossroads between the living and the otherworldly. I had no idea what I was walking into!
The inn, already dripping with Victorian-era mystery, felt amplified that day. Vendors filled the garden and hallways, offering everything from aura readings to handcrafted talismans, while the scent of incense and the low hum of chanting created an otherworldly ambiance. Attendees wandered the grounds in long skirts and black hats, clutching crystals and cups of herbal tea like modern-day mystics.
But nothing could prepare me for Annabelle.

Yes—that Annabelle. The real haunted doll from “The Conjuring” that inspired Hollywood horror lore!
The energy shifted the moment I stepped into the room where she was displayed. You could feel it—an invisible pressure in the air, like the weight of someone’s breath on the back of your neck. Everyone instinctively kept their distance, drawn in by curiosity yet repelled by a primal sense of unease.
She sat behind a glass case, smaller than I expected, her face locked in that same uncanny expression you’ve seen in photos. But seeing her in person? Totally different. There’s a density to her energy, something unnatural that lingers long after you walk away. People whispered about nausea, headaches, and sudden chills. I didn’t doubt them because I too experienced a terrible headache and excruciating nausea.

By twilight, as the sky turned lavender and the cicadas began their nightly chorus, I took one last walk through the grounds. The air still buzzed with energy, but the heaviness had lifted, leaving something quieter behind—like the sigh of a ghost retreating into the walls.
The Psychic and Spirit Fest wasn’t just an event. It was an experience—a beautifully eerie blend of curiosity, reverence, and just the right amount of fear. If you’re drawn to the paranormal or just want to spend a weekend steeped in spiritual oddities, the next one should absolutely be on your list.
Just… maybe don’t stare too long into Annabelle’s eyes.
