Today, I’m reviewing Muppit Boy and the Wheel of Power by Michael J. Bowler, an action-packed superhero adventure that will appeal to young readers who love mystery, humor, science fiction, and a little danger!
In this exciting sequel, we meet Mo Fitzroy, better known as Muppit Boy, a twelve-year-old superhero with extraordinary powers, enormous courage, and the everyday insecurities of a kid trying to fit in.
Now flying under the secret identity of Condor Kid, Mo finds himself caught up in a sinister adventure involving missing boys, a mysterious amusement park called Pleasure Island, and a villain with some truly terrifying plans.
What I particularly enjoyed about this book is how Bowler combines laugh-out-loud moments with nail-biting suspense. From a collapsing Ferris wheel to a dangerous underground discovery, there’s never a dull moment!
But there’s also a wonderful message beneath all the action. Mo’s complicated relationship with school bully Mason Rizzo explores friendship, forgiveness, and the importance of looking beyond appearances.
I think young readers will love Mo’s humor, courage, and determination, especially those who have ever felt different or struggled to fit in.
A fast-paced, funny, and heartfelt adventure that proves you don’t need superpowers to be a hero!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Michael J. Bowler is an award-winning author of middle grade and young adult novels and feature-length screenplays. He grew up in Northern California and taught high school, in both general education and to students with disabilities. He has also made low-budget horror films, written stage plays, and coached strength training for high school and middle school students.
He has been a youth mentor with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program for many years, has mentored young people in California’s juvenile justice system, and adopted a child from foster care. That experience runs through the Muppit Boy books, which celebrate looking beyond labels and giving kids the chance to surprise us.
