Cirque du Soleil at Bellagio Hotel

The Bellagio hotel hosts the “O” show of Cirque Du Soleil in all its aquatic, mystical glory!

Weaving a tapestry of artistry, surrealism and theatrical romance, ‘O’ pays tribute to the beauty of theatre. Inspired by the concept of infinity and the elegance of water, world-class acrobats, synchronized swimmers and divers create a breathtaking experience. Only at Bellagio, Las Vegas.

My Opinion

An incredible evening awaits you here if you decide to spend the $100 on a ticket to this show.

I’ve been pretty busy lately.  I’ve had a lot of photoshoots modelling wise and have been learning a lot. I’m working on my acting showreel and will be starting work on a project as part of Skybok filming and editing for Yokhuselo Haven for Abused Women who is hosting a big function in honour of their 25th anniversary this month. I’m presenting in a new Industrial series for my family’s company Doubell Machines and I’m soon making the move to Johannesburg but will be making a trip to Cape Town Nov 1 for the summer season there. The word on my lips is COMMUTE ! I’ll be doing a lot of that in the time to come. Good thing I just bought a new cabin bag 😉 Acting-wise, there’s usually a great deal of castings and auditions up in Cape Town during these next 2 months of the year, so I’m excited for that. In the midst of all this, I’ve discovered a coffee shop in Port Elizabeth called La Boca. When I went the other day I had a pot of Rooibos tea (a true South African product) and an amazing cheese platter. Thank Goodness I had my laptop with me, as The Mail & Guardian contacted me for some photos of Grahamstown’s nightlife which I happened to have a lot of seeing as Skybok Profiles filmed many of their clubs last year! Watch one of our profiles of their biggest nightclub below. I did the editing and voice work and my brother did the filming. Shot on a CANON 5D MK 2 with a 50mm fixed focus lens and a 20mm wide angle lens.

Nightlife in Grahamstown

We have a fantastic nightlife scene all over South Africa. Having lived and studied in New York myself, I am proud to say our clubs are not too dissimliar! Friar Tucks is a big nightclub in a small student town. Grahamstown is about an hour drive from Port Elizabeth. It has around 70 000 people. It’s a university town – with Rhodes University campus taking up centre stage. A classic nightclub in the heart of Grahamstown, South Africa, Friar Tucks has been voted as South Africa’s number 1 nightclub.

Filming Zula Bar in Cape Town for Skybok

Zula Bar, Cape Town’s premier sound bar, is located at number 98 Longstreet. The night we went to shoot was absolutely packed – see for yourself in the video. The line was all the way down the road. It really reflected the vibrant night life of Cape Town, South Africa. I loved that this venue had people coming in to do all sorts – party, have a quiet drink or just have dinner. They do breakfasts, lunches and dinners every day of the week. They have various dance floors in different sections upstairs and downstairs, where people can listen to up to four different types of music on popular nights. You can order a drink and then walk around until you find your kind of music. Come in the week for stand-up comedy acts, acoustic music or bands and on the weekends to club. They’re very well-known for their pizzas if you’re coming in for dinner with friends. They’re open Mondays to Thursdays from 12pm-2am and on Fridays to Saturdays from 12pm -4am.

Filming Tjing Tjing Rooftop Bar in Cape Town for Skybok

One of Cape Town’s favourite night clubs, “Tjing Tjing” is a rooftop bar located just off Longstreet. We got to shoot on an absolutely packed night. It was pumping and the video came out exceptionally. I love their colour scheme and ‘attic’ feel. The owner is friendly and professional and I can really recommend hiring this place out as a venue for a birthday party, corporate function or business meeting. It has a festive atmosphere and shooting their official video profile was a dream. I enjoyed editing this and doing the voice over particularly because I enjoy the venue so much and I wanted to do Ilse Koekemoer (owner)  justice on her fabulous club! For more photos Skybok took on the night click HERE.
