April is National Poetry Month—a time to celebrate the power of words, rhythm, and imagination. So it felt especially fitting that this month I hit the road with A Streak of Light and brought Ruby’s story to Comic Con in New Braunfels. But the real highlight? Connecting with my dear friend, the legendary Guy Gilchrist.
If you know Guy, you know he’s not just the creative genius behind The Muppets, Nancy, and TMNT—he’s a heart-led artist who brings kindness and soul to everything he touches. So when we caught up at Hill Country Comic Con and I told him more about Ruby’s journey and the mission behind A Streak of Light, he didn’t hesitate.
And just like that, Ruby got a custom-painted ukulele—designed by Guy himself.
Yes, a real, playable, one-of-a-kind ukulele that’ll join me on tour as I visit schools, bookstores, and magical corners of the U.S., sharing Ruby’s story of light, healing, and the power of signs from the universe.
The uke will be more than an art piece—it’ll be a symbol of friendship, creativity, and the way art brings people together.
