Giving sweets to the children of Ubomi Obutsha Community Centre
It’s no surprise that I eventually wrote a children’s book. For the past 15 years, my life has been closely tied to giving back to children — through my own non-profit, and through outreach projects with the Rotary Club of Algoa Bay and the Rotary Club of Westlake here in Austin. Those experiences have shaped me, stretched me, and reminded me again and again why I love the work I do. Today I’m spotlighting one of my sweetest memories: handing out treats to the young students of the Ubomi Obutsha Community Center in Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa. Moments like that stay with you. They become small anchors you carry into every new project. If you’d like to explore more of the outreach stories I’ve shared, you can find a collection of past posts linked here on the blog. And if you’re interested in finding out how you can help, I’ve put together a list of over ten meaningful causes you can support — plus a fun gallery of other projects I’ve been part of over the years.
