MY REVIEW

Today I’m reviewing a children’s picture book series called The Adventures of Edward the Baby Liraffe for readers aged 3–8, first published in 2019. I found this to be an endearing and gentle read, thoughtfully written with real tenderness and care. The stories follow Edward and his delightful companion, Emily, two adventurous baby giraffes exploring famous landmarks and unforgettable destinations around the world. Well, Edward is actually half lion and half giraffe, which makes him even more special for children, adding a magical twist to his courage, curiosity, and charm.

I’ve personally read the first three editions on Britain, Europe, and Africa, and I loved the accuracy and rich detail throughout. Having visited many of these destinations myself, I can confidently say the books capture their beauty wonderfully: from the thunderous power of Victoria Falls and the mystical Nile River in Egypt, to Salzburg, Munich’s lively beer halls, the Dolomite mountains near Venice, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the London Eye, Westminster Bridge, and the breathtaking landscapes of Scotland. The illustrations truly do these iconic places justice.

There’s still a whole world waiting for Edward and Emily. I’d love to see a North American edition featuring Bermuda, the author’s island home, along with adventures across China and India, a joyful stop in Australia where Edward finally meets a kangaroo, and South America where he might cross paths with a jaguar at Carnival in Rio! This is a vibrant, educational, heart-brightening series that young readers will love.
