I saw Dracula in London this week, starring Cynthia Erivo, and it completely surprised me in the best way.

Cynthia plays all 23 characters
The staging was dark and elegant, with a spare set that let the lighting and sound design do most of the haunting. Erivo brought this intense, magnetic energy to the role — quiet one moment, commanding the next — and the whole theatre felt like it was holding its breath. It leaned more into psychological tension than gore, which made it even more unsettling. Has anyone else seen it yet?
Dracula is playing at the Noël Coward Theatre from early February through 30 May 2026, giving it a strictly limited 16-week season in London’s theatre district. The performance runs about 1 hour 50 minutes with no interval.

Fun facts about this production:
- It’s a modern reimagining of Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel, with a tighter, more character-driven script.
- The score blends live orchestral elements with subtle electronic sound design to heighten suspense.
- The lighting design uses over 200 programmed cues to create shifting “shadow walls” on stage.
- Some performances feature minimalist staging — no elaborate castle set — to focus entirely on the actors’ physicality and voice.
Tickets for the show start from around £30 for standard seats
