On my way to see ancient ruins in Belize

Today, in honor of World Heritage Month, I’m thinking about the world’s most magical objects. In Japan, the sacred sword Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi is said to command the wind. In New Zealand, carved pounamu pendants carry ancestral presence. In China, jade burial suits were believed to guard souls into eternity. In Egypt, the golden mask of Tutankhamun protected a young king beyond death. In Peru, Inca gold was revered as condensed sunlight. In Italy, the Holy Lance drew pilgrims for centuries. In Australia, sacred tjurunga stones embody Dreamtime ancestors.
