Brenham—now officially known as the Ice Cream Capital of Texas
I visited the Blue Bell Ice Cream Museum in Brenham, and it’s one of those stops that feels simple but surprisingly memorable. It’s not flashy—it’s more about the story behind something familiar. Blue Bell started in 1907 as the Brenham Creamery Company, originally making butter from excess cream brought in by local farmers. A few years later, they began making ice cream—and by the mid-1900s, that became their full focus.
The most popular Blue Bell flavor is Homemade Vanilla

Inside the museum, you walk through over 100 years of history, from early delivery days (think horse and wagon) to how the brand grew into a Texas staple. What makes it special is how local it still feels. Despite being widely recognized, it’s stayed rooted in Brenham—now officially known as the Ice Cream Capital of Texas. There’s also an ice cream parlor on-site, which might be the real highlight—simple scoops, classic flavors, and that nostalgic, small-town feel. It’s not just about ice cream—it’s about how something small, local, and consistent turns into something people keep coming back to.
