MY REVIEW
Rescue Clickity Clack by Debra Pehrson Haun feels like stepping into a bright, wavy world where something small has gone wrong—and you’re the one who can fix it! A tiny crab is stuck, calling out, and suddenly the story belongs to you.
The pacing is quick and playful. One second you’re reading, the next you’re popping bubbles, counting claws, and swishing your hands like the sea itself. It’s active, a little urgent, and impossible to sit still through. That repeating “clickity clack” rhythm lingers like a sound echoing underwater.
The illustrations are a huge part of the magic. Bold colors, friendly sea creatures, and wide, open ocean scenes make every page feel alive. The crab’s expressions are especially charming—you can almost feel its worry, then its relief. The simple, clean artwork keeps everything easy to follow, while still giving kids plenty to look at and explore.
There’s also a lovely real-world tie-in: this book would be perfect to share around World Oceans Day (June 8) , a global event that celebrates marine life and reminds us to protect our oceans!
Fun, hands-on, and full of heart—I found this to be an engaging, joyful read that kids will want to experience again and again.
