There might not be much life in a Colorado ghost town called “St.Elmo”, but the life (or little lives) that are there soon have you forgetting all about their ghostly neighbors who could be watching you as you pull up to explore. Voila! The cutest things on Earth (which I’ve never seen before because we don’t have them in South Africa), chipmunks! Buy seeds for 25c + spend a lovely little morning with them nibbling out your hand. The ghost town’s little residents have a Facebook page here + the General Store in the town where you can buy seeds also have a Facebook page here.
These ducks are all over the paths + meadows of Christchurch Cathedral in Oxford! Christchurch College’s alumni include Lewis Carroll + W.H. Auden.
The Duck was a symbol of Isis, the Egyptian goddess who was a patron of nature and magic. The following quote is taken from the book ‘The Burden of Isis’ which was published in 1910: “Thy duck, thy sister, Isis, produceth the sweet odours belonging to thee and with thee, Yet thy way doth not tend toward us, oh our lord!”

There’s nothing like animals to ground you. Here are some photos of my pets taken last Christmas (they love our pool more than we do!). My golden lab is named “Joe Fox” + our chocolate lab is named “Bella Blue”. I love thinking up unconventional names for animals…. what are your animals named?
** the photo at the end is our friend’s dachshund, so cute!
Currently I am spearheading the launch of a brand new initiative at Doubell Machines as part of “Going Green”. This is something that I’m really excited about as the environment is something I care deeply about. As a manufacturing business, we release a lot of carbon when we make the machines. This is bad for the environment. To reduce our carbon footprint, for every ten Jumbos we sell we are adopting a penguin from SAMREC. SAMREC is an organisation dedicated to the rehabilitation of African penguins. They have a beautiful facility in Port Elizabeth located in the Cape Recife Nature Reserve.
