There’s a gorgeous town just outside Cape Town called Franschhoek. It was founded in 1688 by French Huguenots & lies between towering mountains, right in the beautiful heart of the Cape Winelands. It’s the food & wine capital of South Africa!
It has some of the top restaurants in the country, including one of the TOP 50 restaurants in the world. When it comes to its strong wine culture – I’ve found many beautiful wine farms nestled within its quiet borders, Haute Cabrière (The home of Pierre Jourdan) being one.
If you’re ever in Cape Town, take a day trip to Franschhoek. These are some nice places to visit:
1. Deluxe Coffee Works (coffee shop)
2. Allora (restaurant)
3. La Petite Ferme (restaurant, accommodation & winery)
4. African Chocolate Dreams (chocolate shop)
5. Roca Restaurant at the Dieu Donné Vineyards (restaurant & micro-brewery on the Dieu Donné wine estate)
