A Ghost Walk in…York

Sunset in York
Sun setting in York, England, as I start my ghost walk. Taken nearby where Guy Fawkes – the famous gunpowder plot conspirator – was born

I like to do a ghost walk in every city I visit. I’ve done so many + I expect I’ll do more… which is why I’m starting a ghost series on this blog for suggestions + tips for the spookiest activities I find – perhaps in a city near you! My most memorable ghost walks have been in Charleston, Denver, Washington, San Antonio, Boulder, New York and York (arguably the bloodiest history of them all!). Above, a photo as I began my walk on a warm summer evening last year.

I also find it fascinating visiting cemeteries and graveyards in different cities – the most memorable being where Margaret Mitchell (author of Gone With The Wind) is buried in Atlanta. See pictures here of her tombstone.

I can say I have only been haunted once (extremely scary) in Leadville, Colorado. It was at The Delaware Hotel ($130 a night). I also had a creepy experience at The Stanley Hotel in Boulder (where The Shining was written – linked above).

The White House in Washington

Stone Cracked Crab Claws + Oysters at Old Ebbitt Grill near the White House

The White House is a 2 minute walk from where I stayed when recently in Washington. Needless to say, this is an iconic site. It’s perfect for couples, friends, or the whole family to do when visiting Washington.

Lafayette Square is a seven-acre (30,000 m²) public park located within President’s Park, Washington, D.C. directly north of the White House on H Street, bounded by Jackson Place on the west, Madison Place on the east, and Pennsylvania Avenue.

Why I Love Featured Content

Like a leading hotel, a blog needs some stand-out content.

My blog is very diverse, I have been on adventures since before I was a finalist for a presenter search on a travel show in South Africa in my early 20s!

Even before its finals in Mauritius, I had already been twice before to the exotic island, as well as to Singapore, the Caribbean, Thailand, Germany, Italy, Los Angeles + Great Britain with my family.

Now – after even more global travel – one thing I enjoy doing is featuring some awesome content of past travel stories, still relevant today. Every month I change up the featured content, so you to get a true cross selection of my travel reporting from tons of cities, just for you!
