MY REVIEW

You think you know what you’re getting—kids, dogs, happy endings. But The Doggos series doesn’t play it safe. These stories crawl under your skin in the best way. Each book begins with a kid staring down something real: Simon faces bullies. Fiona wrestles with selfishness. Stephen battles his temper. Charlotte aches with loneliness. Matt and Zach carry the weight of being orphaned. And Theo? He fears being ordinary.

Then comes the dog—scrappy, abandoned, scarred. The moment they meet, everything shifts.

What I love? Edwards never sugarcoats it. The lessons sting like fresh bruises. The kids stumble. The dogs struggle. But together, they scrape their way toward something stronger—courage, trust, family.

I love the artwork. Bold. Messy. Chaotic. It mirrors the emotions bubbling off the page, grabbing you by the collar and dragging you in.

This isn’t just a dog series. It’s about survival, second chances, and the monsters kids face every day—the kind that don’t vanish when the lights go out. Kids will see themselves here. Parents will feel the gut punch too. Highly recommended for families who want stories that are as real as they are heartwarming.

Written and Illustrated by S.K. Edwards

The Doggos are heartwarming stories about dogs and the kids who love them. Each book focuses on the story of a sad, abandoned dog and an unhappy, out-of-control, or lonely child. The books are inspiring parables that show the special relationships between children and dogs.

Many children suffer from anxiety, loneliness, bullying, or hyperactivity, but when just the right dog comes along into his or her lives, magic happens. Dogs are reservoirs of unconditional love and can make a child feel valued and secure.
