Experience Austin: The Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in Texas

LBJ Presidential Library

About

I toured the LBJ Presidential Library when I was in Austin recently. Lyndon B. Johnson was the 36th president of the United States. He was born in Texas on August 27, 1908. He was elected vice president in 1960 + became the 36th president in 1963 after President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. This library is a sort of museum about him, housing letters that passed between him + other global leaders as well as various replications + educational displays. There were many tour groups. I found it very interesting! I’m standing here (above) in a replica of the Oval Office –  the official office of the President of the United States. The real one is located in the West Wing of the White House  in Washington. This is what it would have looked like when LBJ worked there. I loved getting to know more about him + his wife, Lady Bird Johnson, and their place in American history.
