I did a trip to Colorado recently – I hung out a bit in Aspen (if you’re interested in Colorado at all, check out these posts I did when I went in the Fall: Psychics and Silver in Colorado, Mussels in the mountains, Charcuterie and Artisan Cheeseboard, Spring Water at 8,000ft, Fall Colors of Colorado, Steampunk bar in Aspen). The thrill for me is really in getting there – I had a stunning road trip through the rockies. The Evergreens were as gorgeous as ever – my quest was to showcase this breathtaking place to my brother who was visiting from South Africa. For the Skybok video you’re about to see (it’s only 1 minute), I used my iPhone 7 Plus on a DJI – Osmo Mobile Gimbal Stabilizer, which you can get at Best Buy! I HIGHLY recommend it!! On the website, search  “DJI – Osmo Mobile Gimbal Stabilizer”. They also have awesome drones which I was tempted to get for this because I was in the ski lift at one point with gorgeous views of the town 😉

A Heart Full of Sunset

I enjoyed a sundowner in Camps Bay recently. I really do live in a beautiful city! It’s awesome being by the beach. My favourite time of day is sunset… I usually try make sundowners on the weekend somewhere along Victoria Drive, Cape Town.

Update + Links

A lot of my time recently has been dedicated to creating contracts, finalizing web content + meeting with future clients. On top of this, I’ve been running around Cape Town for castings + going into studio for voice work. I can’t wait to head home soon for Christmas + relax. In the meantime, here are a few links I’d like to share:

I’m working on a series based on a talk I gave to a school on what to expect after leaving high school + entering the real world (more on this soon!)

I want to serve these at a dinner party.

I’m itching for a vacation. Next stop: here.

This is amazing. Creative people in their creative spaces.

Wouldn’t mind doing a little shopping here.

Wouldn’t mind getting this.

Stuff That Makes Me Smile

In no particular order:

  1. Colour. In any way, shape or form.
  2. Watching Russell Brands YouTube Channel.
  3. Banting chocolate brownies (carb-free).
  4. Daily yoga, prayer + meditation.
  5. Having cream + honey in my coffee.
  6. Listening to Grooveshark, especially the EDM Broadcast.
  7. Being in Cape Town for Summer.
  8. Collaboration. On books, blogs, brands + business.
  9. French manicures.

What’s been making you smile lately?

Ps. Here’s the Brownie recipe. Takes 20 minutes!

Ingredients

¾ cup Almond Flour 3 Tbs. Cocoa Powder 1/3 cup Xylitol / Honey ½ tsp. Bicarbonate of soda Pinch of Salt Handful of assorted nuts 3 Eggs 1 tsp. Vanilla ¼ cup Butter, melted.

Method

Mix the dry ingredients; and add all the wet ingredients. Whisk till it is combined. Pour into a small baking dish/pan (we used a dish approx. 140mm x 220mm) and bake at 170°C for 15 minutes or until the brownie almost does not “jiggle”. Do not overcook, as the brownies will dry out quickly!

Dogs Collages

There’s nothing like animals to ground you. Here are some photos of my pets taken last Christmas (they love our pool more than we do!). My golden lab is named “Joe Fox” + our chocolate lab is named “Bella Blue”. I love thinking up unconventional names for animals…. what are your animals named?

** the photo at the end is our friend’s dachshund, so cute!

Headshots in Camps Bay

We did a fabulous shoot recently in Camps Bay for BaliBali Fashion Boutique, Cape Town. I think the beaches in Cape Town are gorgeous! We are working on their marketing posters for the Lifestyle Centre in Kloof Street as well as for new brochures + digital advertising. I’ve designed + launched all their social media platforms and our new “Hippi Chic” campaign is looking good! Summer is here! (Please note all these pics are copyright. If you want to use any of these photos, get in touch with me here).

Township Tours in South Africa

T O W N S H I P S

When Skybok was up in Durban 2014 filming for the Tourism Indaba, we went on an organized media tour. It was incredible seeing townships one would never get to see. If you travel here, make sure you do an organized tour with a legitimate company. We spent the day touring Durban and surrounding townships where Nelson Mandela began his journey with the ANC. The particular township we went to also happened to be where Ghandi spent his years in South Africa. It’s called the Inanda Heritage Route. We ended off with a gorgeous beachfront party and buffet in true African style! Below is a list of companies who do township tours. It is an unforgettable and heart-warming experience. You won’t be sorry.
